The Advances in Corporate Governance (ACG) journal is an opportunity to acknowledge the contribution made by Prof. Mervyn King. The values and criteria for good governance and leadership, as guided by Prof. King, are necessary for the world of work. Wits Business School, is equally ingrained in principles of governance and ethics, allows for the dovetail of values and century-old institution standing, has enabled the conceptualisation of the journal. Wits Business School provides a platform that encourages leaders and academics alike to conduct research and engage in discourse in the field of governance and ethical leadership. The Journal will present findings on issues that relate to governance and ethics and highlights the opportunity for creating awareness on unethical practices. Inspired by the work of Prof. King and the Good Governance Academy (GGA), I decided to apply to a call for proposals for new journals an opportunity shared and offered by AOSIS. After much preparation, the draft proposal was accepted, and with the guidance of the AOSIS Team, corrections were made, and the final proposal was submitted and approved. With an Editorial Team in place today we launch the journal in collaboration with AOSIS, GGA and Wits Business School. We are here to embark on a remarkable journey as academics and corporate come together to raise concerns and awareness on ethics and governance that is guided by research. I have conceptualised and completed the proposal for the journal now carefully placing it in the hands of the chief editor, reviewers and authors knowing that Prof. King’s legacy will be upheld by two formidable institutions and the custodians thereof. This seed has been sown – goodness will follow.
